In the shadow of these religious tensions, the kingdom of Falmuth secretly plots an invasion against the nation of Tempest, exploiting the prevailing climate of distrust to justify its expansionist ambitions. Corrupt dignitaries manipulate public opinion and orchestrate false accusations to legitimize a large-scale military intervention against what they present as a monstrous threat. Rimuru, still largely absorbed by his disputes with the Church, at first remains unaware of the scale of the plot being hatched against his nation. This episode lays the groundwork for the major conflict about to upend the region's balance of power.
