The Goblin Village

Chapters 6 - 10

Leaving Veldora's cave behind, Rimuru sets out to explore the surrounding lands and stumbles upon a goblin village besieged by a pack of giant wolves, the Fury Wolves. Rather than flee the danger, he chooses to intervene and wipes out the threat with his new abilities, saving the community from slaughter. In gratitude, he gives each survivor a name, a seemingly harmless act that triggers a radical evolution in their respective species: the goblins become Hobgoblins and the wolves become the far more powerful Tempest Wolves. Rimuru then grasps the sheer scope of the power that comes from naming living beings in this world, while also sealing the bonds of trust that will make him the natural leader of this budding community.
